[Compositions 2019]

Composition 2019.01 (Untitled)

Composition 2019.01 (Untitled) consists of two layers: five short sinewave-based sounds pitched at C3; and a continuous tone at C1.

Composition 2019.02 (Untitled)

Composition 2019.02 (Untitled) is sparsely textured - and consists of a small number of repeating sounds that fade in and out of each other. Distortion has been added to create a level of timbral complexity.

Composition 2019.03 (Untitled)

Composition 2019.03 (Untitled) was produced digitally using FM and analog modelling synthesis - and consists of a small number of repeating sounds separated by periods of silence.

Composition 2019.04 (Untitled)

Composition 2019.04 (Untitled) consists of a number of different sounds that fade in and out and of each other - creating an ever-evolving sonic texture.

Composition 2019.05 (Untitled)

Composition 2019.05 (Untitled) is in the form of ‘call and response’.  The ‘call’ element is a short sound - initially pitched at C1 - but which slowly increase in pitch until it reaches C2. The ‘response’ element consists of a sinewave-based tone at C3 with different levels of ring-modulation - so that each iteration of this sound has a slightly different characteristic. The quality of the composition is of slow development and change.

Composition 2019.05 (Untitled) was first performed at the Sonic Electronics Festival - Curated by Laura Netz - IKLECTIK - London - 31.05.2019.

Composition 2019.05 (Untitled) Live Film

Composition 2019.05 (Untitled) Live Film is of Bernhard Living performing at the Sonic Electronics Festival Curated by Laura Netz - Iklectik - London - 31.05.2019.

Composition 2019.06 (Technological Artefacts)

Composition 2019.06 (Technological Artefacts) consists of two tones: C1 - C3 - separated by periods of silence. Extensive distortion has been applied to create a level of timbral complexity.

Composition 2019.06 (Technological Artefacts) was premiered at Corpora Aliena - IKLECTIK - London - 13.07.2019

Composition 2019.07 (Untitled)

Composition 2019.07 (Untitled) was produced using digital synthesis - and consists of four short tones: C#3 - A#3 - C4 - D#4 - separated by periods of silence.

Composition 2019.08 (Objective Truth)

Composition 2019.08 (Objective Truth) consists of s two-note cell of C2 and C3 - with the repeating tones occurring randomly on the timeline.

In philosophy - objectivity is the concept of truth independent from individual subjectivity (bias caused by one's perception - emotions, - or imagination). A proposition is considered to have objective truth when its truth conditions are met without bias caused by a sentient subject. Scientific objectivity refers to the ability to judge without partiality or external influence. Objectivity in the moral framework calls for moral codes to be assessed based on the well-being of the people in the society that follow it. Moral objectivity also calls for moral codes to be compared to one another through a set of universal facts and not through subjectivity.

Composition 2019.09 (Untitled)
Composition 2019.09 (Untitled) was produced digitally using FM and physical modelling synthesis (ele - and consists of two layers of short pitched tones occurring simultaneously to form dyads - and with each dyad separated by an equal duration of silence. The pitches for layer 1 are: C3 - C#3 - C3 - C3 - C3 - C3 - C3 - B2.  And the pitches for layer 2 are C2- C2 - B1 - C2 - C#2 - C2 - C2.

Composition 2019.10 (Untitled)
Composition 2019.10 (Untitled) was produced digitally using FM and wavetable synthesis - and consists of four elements - pitched at either C3 or C4 - separated by periods of silence. Distortion and ring-modulation have been applied to some of the elements to create levels of harmonic and timbral complexity.
